Terry Cott

I was trained as a wood patternmaker by the US Navy. Patternmaking is the art of creating a model or mold for metal castings out of wood. The tolerances for this profession are extremely tight. My apprenticeship was 4 ½ years long, in which time I learned many woodworking techniques and processes. I later received an Associates Degree in Arts. I moved to North Carolina in 2019 from Washington State where I was a member of two coop galleries and my wife and I owned our own art gallery for 3 years. I am currently a member of both the Alamance Artist and Burlington Artists Leagues. In 2023, one of my tables won first place in an art contest. The judge’s comments on my work: “ It’s all in the details. This piece is, simply put, elegant. Each element has been considered and worked with accordingly. The construction is on point, which enables the novelty of the legs, the selection of the woods, and the precision of the cuts and assembly to be universally balanced throughout”. I also won an honorable mention with a wall hanging mandala.
