Mia Lucero

Creating art is like breathing to me, and I have been making art for as long as I can remember. I started by illustrating stories as a child, began to explore painting, and eventually expanded to include other mediums such as sculpture, hammered metals, and wood carving.

I find inspiration in nature, and my artwork is an extension of the woods, fields, and farm we live on. The boundaries between my studio and our farm are blurred, and often the sheep and goats wander aimlessly past my window and in and out of my art. Wood, clay, and rocks find their way into my 3-D work, and my oil paintings reflect both wild and domestic aspects of Creation.

Mia resides in rural NC with her husband and two children, along with their flock of sheep, herd of goats, and a few artsy chickens that create multi-colored eggs.
