"My practice is compulsive and has always been about silently learning. The sketchbook is a tool that I believe in using. I treat the sketchbook as an organism that can die and is dependent on everyday use to sustain its life. Simplicity is the aim. Lines are the vehicle. It’s as if the artist found the ‘right’ lines to communicate with.
My BFA is in drawing and painting from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Graduating in 2015, it’s been most important to actively join organizations and participate in classes/internships/apprenticeships to further my education. Becoming the first intern at the North Carolina Arts Incubator (NCAI), exhibiting 50 works in my first solo show at the PAF Gallery there, and earning a scholarship through networking amongst the NCAI community to attend Penland School of Craft for painting speaks to this effort of seeking growth."
